Buffalo, NY – Forty Western New Yorkers were chosen by a panel of their peers, who are also former 40 Under 40 recipients, to receive the 40 Under 40 award. The winners exemplified business savvy and a dedication to their professions and the Buffalo community. Freed Maxick is proud to have another winner this year – along with a special alumni winner as well.

The Freed Maxick recipient was Holly Hejmowski, who is a Principal at the Firm. Her nomination detailed her commitment to her clients, many professional accomplishments, and dedication to her community with involvement in organizations like the Center for Elder Law & Justice, Junior Achievement, The Breast cancer Network of WNY, Hospice, and Boys & Girls Club of Depew-Lancaster. Holly joined Freed Maxick in 2004 and has over 15 years of public accounting experience with a focus on employee benefit plans, real estate, and not-for-profit entities.

The other recipient is her husband Aaron Hejmowski, a Freed Maxick alumni who started at the Firm in 2004, returning in 2008 through 2012. They met when they were on a job together, and are now married with two children. For the past seven years Aaron has held the role of Chief Financial Officer for Belmont Housing Resources for WNY, a leading advocate for quality affordable housing. His nomination outlined his work ethic, ability to create efficiencies within the organization, and commitment to the community.

A husband and wife winning together has previously happened only once in Buffalo 40 Under 40 award history. Freed Maxick congratulates them both on this significant achievement that they have the opportunity to celebrate and share together.
