Prosperity has recently added to their impressive Local Government portfolio with another win for their Corporate Assurance team - successful as auditors for four Sydney City Councils on a multi-year contract.

The firm has built its expertise in the Local Council markets in New South Wales and Queensland as part of their overarching public-sector strategy. As long-term audit agents for both the New South Wales Audit Office and the Queensland Audit Office, Prosperity has gained invaluable experience and insight into public sector entities.

Specific to Local Government, the firm currently audits 14 Councils and works with around 30 Councils reflecting additional internal audit and consulting engagements. At a broader level, Prosperity’s experience also includes external audits for over 50 state government entities in the same geographies.

Head of Prosperity’s Government group, Luke Malone, said “the challenges that face public sector organisations are unique. Prosperity has earned the reputation of subject matter expert in all aspects of local council affairs and regulations (Local Government Act). Understanding the regulatory framework and the transparent environment, particularly in relation to probity, waste and performance are critical to identifying and delivering innovative solutions in this sector”.

The well-equipped team brings together broad backgrounds to underpin deep sector knowledge, awareness of key impacting issues and an innovative culture that delivers a 21st century service combining local Government expertise with public sector awareness.
