As a proud foundation member of LEA, Prosperity continually utilise our network of personal connections built over the years to assist our clients with on-the-ground advice for international business interests.

We have recently welcomed three employee secondments sourced through our LEA networks. Based in our Sydney office, we are delighted to host Martijn Wiltink from Dutch firm BOL and Molly Cochran and Hillary Smith from Bennett Thrasher in Atlanta USA. These well-regarded member firms also provide a steady stream of advice opportunities for their clients expanding into the Australian region. Martijn, Molly and Hillary are at Prosperity for three months, working with our audit team assisting clients from all over New South Wales and Queensland.

We find that employee secondments benefit employers as a means of developing good business relationships and sharing and enhancing employees' skills. At the same time, they offer employees a valuable career development opportunity, with the chance to make new contacts and gain experience within a different setting.

Martijn, Molly and Hillary’s experience so far has been extremely positive.

Commenting on their involvement, Molly and Hillary said, “The idea of setting up your life in a new country is exciting and energizing, but can also be a bit scary. The Australian people, and especially the people at Prosperity, have made us feel so welcome and comfortable. It took us no time at all to make Sydney our home. In just a few short days, we were ordering flat whites, having vegemite for brekkie, and learning our way around a new city. From Sydney, to Picton, to Tamworth, Cobar, West Wyalong, and Goolgawi, we have been constantly amazed at the kindness and generosity of everyone here. We have learned so much from our coworkers, clients, and new friends and have been inspired by them all.”

As Martijn’s first time overseas, he is also thoroughly enjoying his secondment. He said, “I’ve seen so much of Sydney city itself, meeting clients in Newcastle and colleagues in Brisbane. I even went on a business trip in the outback for the audit of the QLD and NSW councils! Its very exciting to see how the job is done over here and satisfying when the client and your team leaves the office with a smile.”

Lastly, we are pleased to add that Gerhard Jordaan a Manager in our Business Services and Tax team in Sydney, is representing Prosperity at the LEA Young Professionals stream of the Global Conference in San Diego California next month.
