St. Louis, – The Anders CPAs + Advisors (Anders) Young Professionals hosted a firm-wide Christmas in July toy drive for the firm’s 2017 Charity of Choice, Shriners Hospitals for Children – St. Louis. The idea stemmed from members of the Anders Young Professionals Steering Committee as a way to donate to the hospital outside of the holiday season. The summer months are particularly important for toy donations at Shriners, as their stock from the past year’s holiday donations have run low.

A Christmas tree was set up in the office, decorated with ornaments naming a desired toy or item on each. Employees could choose an ornament with an item to donate and set under the tree. At Shriners, after each surgical procedure, the children receive a blanket and toy that matches their personality and interests to help make their recovery more comfortable. To help fill the hospitals stock of blankets, Anders employees worked together to make 53 hand-made tie blankets to go along with the over 200 toys, books and games donated to aid in the children’s recovery while at the hospital. Participants of the firm’s annual Discover Anders summer leadership program made tie blankets to help contribute to the donation.
