Buffalo, NY – This year, Freed Maxick’s State of the Firm event included a unique team building component called “Mission: Military Care.” This program included the charitable aspect of making 250 care packages for our U.S. service men and women. Additionally, the Firm put together a tribute to their own Veterans with personal acknowledgement from Managing Director and Director in charge of Human Resources.

Over the course of two hours, 250 Freed Maxick employees engaged in trust and communication exercises to fill backpacks with items such as toiletries and snacks.  These are special treats for our troops, who don’t always have access to these everyday items while they are serving at home or abroad.  Throughout the course of the program firm employees led around their colleagues, who were blindfolded, to fill the backpacks with items stationed around the room.

The benefits of this event were three-fold for Freed Maxick: build connections and communication between staff in the ever-expanding firm, contribute to a charitable cause which supports one of the firm’s core values of giving back to the community, and recognize the employees who have served in the military and are now veterans.

Freed Maxick takes pride in their employees’ involvement in community and charitable organizations. Being able to execute this component during a meeting of this size, where all four of our offices were gathered together, was a unifying moment on many levels.

A Manager at the firm stated, “when I reflect back on the State of the Firm, the team building is what I remember most vividly. It was fun and helped me to get to know my colleagues - all for a good cause.“ A veteran at Freed Maxick said, “I don’t often go seeking recognition but I was very touched that the ceremony for veterans was a part of The State of The Firm today.”
