St. Louis, - The National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals (NAPAP) has selected Erin Prest, CPA/PFS as one of the 2015 "Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Stars" in Missouri. The award is designed to recognize outstanding public accounting professionals who have been practicing for less than fifteen years.
Prest is a Senior Manager in the Tax Services group at Anders where she specializes in the Family Wealth and Estate Planning area, working with families and individuals on individual and corporate tax planning, wealth transfers, stock option planning, and succession planning. She also has extensive experience in the preparation of tax returns for public charities and private foundations.
A primary charter of NAPAP is to recognize and distinguish the top public accounting professionals in each state. The accountants who make the "Top 10 Rising Stars" list demonstrate an extensive amount of knowledge, skill, experience and success in the field of accounting, while practicing for less than 15 years. To achieve this award, the accountants must first be nominated by industry peers or satisfied clients. The nominees are reviewed by the NAPAP research committee, which evaluates each nominee's credentials against the award criteria, and compiles a list of finalists from which the NAPAP Board of Governors selects the Top 10 Rising Stars. Selection criteria include education, years of experience, areas of expertise, certifications, publications, awards, leadership, and client satisfaction.
A Certified Public Accountant who has also earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Prest holds a B.S. degree in Accountancy and a Master of Advanced Study (M.A.S.) degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In 2009, Prest was named to the St. Louis Business Journal's "30 Under 30" list, as well as the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants' "Women to Watch" Emerging Leader list.
In the community, Prest serves on the Board and has served on various committees for Caritas Family Solutions; on the Steering Committee and on the 9/11 Day of Service Committee for United Way; and on the Finance Committee for The Mission Continues. She also served on the Steering Committee for the Anders Young Professionals Group.
Prest is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), and the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis.
