Chattanooga -Saturday, February 1st, at the Annual Heart Association Heart Ball, LBMC's Grady Williams was awarded the prestigious Heart Ball Honoree.  "I was honored and humbled to serve as the 2014 Chattanooga Heart Ball Honoree to support the work of the American Heart Association. "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke" is a mission that I can stand behind," said Grady Williams.

Born and raised in East Tennessee, Grady was one of six children and the first in his family to attend college. Graduating from Tennessee Tech with a degree in accounting, Grady came to Chattanooga looking for a job in 1957. He was hired on as an accountant, a profession he has stuck with his entire life. Grady is led by a passion to help others and leave this world a better place. He is a member of multiple civic organizations and has served in many capacities with local nonprofit organizations, including the American heart Association where Grady served as one of the first Heart Walk chairs.

One of Grady's proudest accomplishments is being an Organizer of CapitalMark Bank and Trust where he sits on the board of directors. It was at one of their board meetings that Grady mentioned to his good friend Craig Holley that he was having shortness of breath. Having just had open heart surgery, Craig was concerned that Grady's condition may be more serious than he was admitting. Craig promptly called Grady's wife, Phyllis, to voice his concerns. Shortly thereafter, Grady was sitting in a Cardiologist's office getting the news that he needed to have his mitral-valve replaced.

Today, thanks to medical advancements and a healthy cow's valve being placed in his heart, Grady is back on the tennis court and enjoying an active lifestyle once again! Grady knows that his life has been extended thanks to the research done by the American Heart Association. He and Phyllis are thankful to the donors to contribute to make the work possible.
